SURVIVING THE CLEANROOM MADE EASY!
Do you work in a cleanroom? Then read the following 7 rules for survival (some of these scenarios are bound to sound familiar 😉 )
- That cleanroom suit suits you. Full stop.
Yes, you look like an extra in *Outbreak*. But that’s still a thousand times better than being responsible for contaminating the cleanroom, isn’t it?
- Just a quick trip to the loo… forget it
Fancy a quick coffee before going through the security scanner? Very bad idea. Because an hour later, it might force you to sprint through the scanner – including taking all your clothes off and putting them back on again.
- No showboating in the cleanroom, please!
The cleanroom isn’t an action film. Jumping around, running or striking dramatic poses? Not really. Because any sudden movement turns you into a particle-spewing machine.
- Sneezing & coughing = a nasty explosion of particles
One little sneeze, and bang: up to 1.4 million particles are flying through the cleanroom – and everyone is giving you a disapproving look. You don’t want that.
- Sweat mode: ON
In a cleanroom suit, you quickly turn into a human sauna. Three hours in a hood, gloves and coveralls = ‘tropical expedition’ sweat levels. You can’t drink (Rule 2), and you can’t ventilate either… welcome to survival mode.
- Documentation = a lifeline
You might have taken the perfect measurement – but if it isn’t documented, it’s about as likely to exist as a happy ending in *Game of Thrones*. Then it’s back to square one…
- A sense of humour is essential for survival
Without a sense of humour, you wouldn’t be able to cope with 20 air changes per hour or spend three hours in a hood and mask. And after all, laughter is allowed in the cleanroom!
